St. Edmund’s Academy seeks a dedicated and dynamic teacher with a minimum of 3 years of current experience for 1st-4th Grade Science and Engineering and Design Teacher position. The Science and Engineering and Design Teacher works with students in the Lower School Science Lab.
Candidates with a philosophy and experience based on laboratory investigation and hands-on learning will carry out the written curricula. Experience with FOSS/ASSET is preferred. The teacher will also have opportunities to develop and teach STEM lessons and to enhance programmatic initiatives in the areas of innovation and design thinking.
The Science and Engineering and Design Teacher will be responsible for designing curriculum, planning lessons, and working closely with the Lower School teachers and the Director of Early Childhood & Lower School to ensure alignment of the school’s philosophy in curriculum and practices.
Candidates must possess enthusiasm for 21st century pedagogy, be open to change and new ideas, have an outstanding record teaching early childhood or elementary school-aged groups. Excellent writing skills and strong verbal communication are expected. The candidate must demonstrate familiarity with racial literacy, equity, and anti-racist pedagogy. The ability to be collaborative, detail-oriented and innovative and have cross-cultural competency is essential.
Teachers dedicated to meeting the academic and personal needs of the students and collaborating with colleagues and parents should apply. A Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a science discipline is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
