Job Description and Desired Qualifications
The Second Grade Teacher is a dynamic educator who has experience in planning an integrated curriculum. This teacher will work closely with their grade-level partner and cover curricular components as defined by the 2nd-grade teaching team, including language arts, math, and history. Students also attend art, library, Mandarin, music, Spanish, science, and computer classes away from the classroom. The ideal candidate is committed to academic excellence, diversity, equity and inclusion, and deeply understands the social and emotional growth and development of young children. This individual will have a strong commitment to meeting the learning needs of each student, an ability to differentiate instruction in all content areas, a collaborative spirit, and an interest in building community in and outside of the classroom. Redwood Day’s average class size is 18-22 students.
Additional responsibilities include mentoring a teaching assistant, active involvement in collaborative divisional meetings, supervisory duties, supporting admissions, and participation in various student and community activities and events.
This is a full-time position, beginning August 2021. Standard hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays).

Bachelor of Arts
Minimum of five years teaching experience
A natural rapport with children
Highly effective classroom management skills
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work with a strong existing team
Demonstrated commitment to creating diverse, equitable and inclusive learning environments for all students
Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the curriculum
Desired Qualifications and Traits
Teaching credential or Masters Degree (M Ed.) (preferred)
