Moravian Academy is seeking a dynamic and creative middle school science teacher to join its faculty for the 2021 - 2022 school year.
This member of the faculty will work collaboratively with the Downtown Campus faculty, grades PK-8, to design and deliver the 7th-grade science course, which is focused on life sciences with partial integration with earth and physical sciences. This is a full-time, 10-month faculty position reporting to the Director of the Downtown Campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as lead teacher for the Grade 7 science course.
Establish an environment where students are allowed to be curious, joyful, and confident in order to build their skill sets and ability to learn on their own.
Facilitate hands-on exploration, student collaboration and problem-solving.
Integrate classroom practices for teaching social, emotional, and academic skills together.
Create meaningful partnerships with parents and families, including regular communications through school-supplied online tools, emails, and phone calls.
Participate in professional collaboration, including committee meetings, chapel services, and divisional faculty meetings.
A Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s degree strongly preferred.
At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar student-centered classroom environment.
Preference will be given to applicants with a previous background in independent schools or similar college-preparatory programs.
