Portledge School seeks to hire a dynamic Upper School English Teacher who is driven to create a classroom environment where student learning is a non-negotiable goal and passion on a daily basis. Responsibilities include teaching English to students from 9th-12th grade, actively evaluating and building the Upper School English curriculum, participating collegially in meetings and taking an active role in the life of the school community. The candidate will also be a Upper School advisor to a group of 6-8 students, cultivating their academic and social-emotional well being, and carrying out the grade-level advisory program.

BA Degree minimum; advanced degree preferred in relevant area(s)
Teaching certification preferred
Experience in teaching reading and writing skills
Candidates with formal teaching experience given preference

Superb written and oral communication as well as organizational and time management skills
