Dedham Country Day School seeks an assistant to the Woodworking Instructor in grades PK-8. This dynamic and unique position will involve completing a range of preparatory and organizational tasks as well as assisting in teaching students ages 4-14. Hours are Mon -Th, 8:00 am - 3:00 pm, though there can be flexibility/part-time potential for the right candidate. Duration of the position is September 7 - December 17, 2021 though there is potential to work the full academic year. This is an unpaid position.

Ability to lift up to 50lbs, an interest in learning to use hand/power tools, and a can-do attitude are a must.
Experience with tools, engineering, design, construction, STEAM learning/teaching, and/or art education are a plus.
No prior woodworking experience is required.
Being trained in safe use and proper maintenance of common hand and power tools
Building foundational woodworking skills
Being exposed to a student-centered woodworking curriculum with a range of projects
The opportunity to create and teach your own lesson/project if desired
Hours in the classroom / school credit
Mentorship and supervision by seasoned educators, potentially including the Woodworking Teacher, Art Department Chair, and Head of School
The opportunity to observe other classrooms in the school
