A track record as an effective administrator especially regarding program improvement;
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form;
Experience with differentiated instruction and student-centered approaches to teaching and learning;
Excellent communication skills and experience motivating and working with parent volunteers;
Knowledge of or experience with diverse populations;
Ability to effectively motivate and guide employees to continually improve their skills;
Strong computer skills, and the ability to use information technology and communications;
A willingness to go the extra mile in order to meet the educational needs of our students;

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Experience in elementary school teaching and leadership (a minimum of 5 years of experience preferred);
Possession of a valid California credential authorizing service as an elementary school Assistant Principal;
Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK CONDITIONS
Mobility: Must possess mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects such as would be needed to use a pen or keyboard. There is a frequent requirement to attend meetings, make presentations, which may involve prolonged periods of walking, sitting and standing. Ability to routinely lift and/or carry instructional supplies, printed material and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Position requires the active supervision engagement of certificated, classified staff and students during the course of daily activities.
Vision: Must possess vision (which may be corrected) to read small print and computer screens.
Speech and Hearing: Must possess hearing (which may be corrected) to use a telephone and to hear discussion and questions during training sessions. The individual is required to speak clearly and distinctly, to make oral presentations, and to converse by telephone.
Mental and Emotional: The person in this position is required to establish supportive, effective, and confidential relationships with a wide range of people. The person in this position must exercise tact, diplomacy, and empathy especially while working with new teachers.
Other: The person in this position is required to operate a motor vehicle for the purpose of travel within and outside the district.
School working environment subject to bending, crouching or kneeling to assist students, pushing/pulling and lifting of instructional equipment and supplies, sitting on chairs and/or floor and leaning over desks for prolonged periods of time and reaching in all directions.
Office working environment subject to sitting at a desk and/or conference table for long periods of time, using telephone for prolonged periods of time, and reaching in all directions.
About King City Union School District
We are located in a small rural farming community in California's Central Coast. King City is within an hour's distance from the beautiful Monterey Peninsula and the Paso Robles Wine Country. We offer a competitive salary and benefit package. We are a TK-8 district with approx. 2,650 students served. Our primary grades keep a 23 to 1 or less student teacher ratio with para-educator support in kinder and sped classes. We have a K-8 music program and dedicated teacher collaboration time built into our weekly schedules.
