About The Croft School
The Croft School is a young independent school in Providence, Rhode Island. Having opened in Fall 2018, our school will serve 90 students in Kindergarten through Grade 3 during the upcoming 2021-22 school year. Over time, the school will grow into a 200-student K-8 school.
The Croft School provides an engaging, innovative, child-centered program to its students and a unique parent-oriented experience to its families, all within a tight-knit, friendly, and joyous environment. Our school is diverse: students of color represent approximately 40% of our student population and 50% of our students receive tuition support, for example.
The Croft School is seeking an exceptional Founding Grade 3 Teacher to co-lead and co-teach the school’s inaugural Grade 3 class (max 12:1 student-to-teacher ratio). All Croft co-teaching teams are empowered to design and deliver an outstanding student program in alignment with the school’s thoughtful approaches to classroom climate, pedagogy, personalization, and assessment. All Croft teachers dedicate ample time and thoughtfulness to close communication and partnership with their students’ families.
The ideal candidate will be committed to building deep relationships with her/his students and using that knowledge to establish and lead a classroom that balances high-quality math, reading, and writing instruction with innovative project-based learning and ample opportunities for outdoor and indoor play.
Qualifications and Qualities
2+ years of early elementary education experience, ideally in a Grade 3 classroom with a demonstrated record of high student achievement and joyous classroom environments.
A contagious love for teaching, children, and nurturing students’ natural curiosity, instilling in them a lifelong passion for learning.
An entrepreneurial spirit coupled with an ambitious work ethic, as well as a natural desire to go above and beyond to serve students and their families in both expected and unexpected ways.
Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, inclusive of empathy for others, thoughtful listening, team-orientation, and enthusiasm for being part of a co-teaching environment.
Ability to create a safe, joyous learning environment, inclusive of excellent classroom management strategies and skills
Ability to design and lead targeted, small-group instruction.
Self-reflectiveness, humility, and an eagerness to continually improve one’s practice.
A strong desire to remain in this role for 5+ years.
Strong ties to and/or a long-term commitment to Rhode Island.
A Bachelor’s Degree and current authorization to work in the United States is required.

About The Croft School (Providence)
The Croft School is a newly-opened, high-quality independent school in Jamaica Plain. In September 2020, our school opened with students in Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten. We are in the midst of an awesome founding year! Over time, the school will grow into a Preschool through Grade 6 school serving approximately 270 students.
