Core is an interdisciplinary course comprised of history, writing, and literature. The focus of 6th Grade Core is the history and literature of the Middle Ages in Africa, Asia, Meso- and South America, and Europe. Core teachers infuse project-based learning into the curriculum and collaborate deeply with their grade level Core teaching team. The carefully composed, frequently updated curriculum includes many books, articles, tales, etc. and is not textbook based.
Essential Job Functions:
Plan, prepare, develop lesson plans and interactive assignments that are in accordance with the 6thGrade Core curriculum and the school’s mission, goals, and values.
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
Enhance students’ learning experience by promoting creative and analytical thinking.
Have in-depth knowledge of the subject matter and pedagogical methods.
Work both independently and as a member of the Core team.
Provide a stimulating yet organized learning environment to students of different learning styles.
Develop, design, and modify curriculum yearly and as needed during the year.
Be comfortable with a variety of assessment styles.

Experience preferred: 3 - 5+ years of Middle School teaching experience
Ability to maintain kind and professional relationships with students, parents, staff and faculty
Strong organizational skills
Must have excellent communication skills
Ability to incorporate technology in the educational setting
