The Superintendent of Hanover Public Schools in Hanover, Massachusetts is actively seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as Principal of Hanover High School, effective September 1, 2021.
Hanover is considered part of the Massachusetts South Shore. It is a suburban community of just under 15,000 residents located 20 miles south of Boston. It is bordered by Norwell, Pembroke, Hanson, and Rockland and offers year-round recreational opportunities. Hanover residents enjoy and support a strong public school system and believe in providing a competitive and challenging curriculum specific to individual needs, empowering students to succeed in the academic, social, and civic arenas. Hanover Public Schools serves approximately 2,700 students in four schools: Cedar School (Grades PK-1), Center School (Grades 2-4), Hanover Middle School (Grades 5-8) and Hanover High School (Grades 9-12). Hanover High School is comprised of approximately 800 hardworking freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The educational community takes great pride in its course offerings and college acceptances. Approximately 700 Advanced Placement examinations are issued each year to students. During the last two school years, seventy-four percent of student scores qualified with 3 or higher. The high-level participation in the College Board’s AP program has earned the school AP Honor Roll status.
SELECTED ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR THE NEW PRINCIPAL
Experience as an innovative high school leader
Licensure or eligibility for a license as a secondary principal Massachusetts
Strong understanding of, and experience with, educational best practices
A commitment to inclusion and a demonstrated respect for the value of diversity
Experience with recruitment, selection, supervision, and evaluation of faculty and staff
Skill and commitment to providing for the academic, social, and emotional health of all students
Experience using student performance and other data to improve student outcomes
A dedication to promoting equity, acceptance, and racial justice
A commitment to working with the broader community for the benefit of students
