Benchmark School, founded in 1970, is an independent coeducational day school serving 180 bright children in grades 1 through 8 who have been identified as having dyslexia, ADHD, auditory processing or language-based learning differences.
Benchmark School is seeking applicants for a full-time middle school language arts co-teacher with an ability to work with a head teacher using various co-teaching models of instruction to best meet the needs of students, and with a larger team, including a supervisor, psychologist, and a grade level team. The successful candidate will provide research-based instruction in all aspects of literacy and content for a language arts class.
The school seeks a teacher with an ability to provide explicit instruction within the context of a project- or inquiry-based instructional framework and who will demonstrate an openness to learn and grow professionally. The successful candidate will be a clear communicator with colleagues and parents and a role model for middle school students.
All middle school teachers are mentors to a small group of middle school students and will participate in occasional evening and weekend activities.
