Status: Part time/Exempt Classification: Faculty Supervisor: Director of Early Childhood Location: In-person instruction at the Lead Mine Campus Hours: 12:30pm - 6pm
The Montessori School of Raleigh (MSR) seeks a Health and Wellness/Physical Education Teacher for the 2021/2022 school year beginning August 23, 2021. Under the general direction of the Director of Early Childhood, with support from the Director of Lower School and the Athletic Director, the ideal candidate will lead physical education classes for Children’s House and Elementary classrooms, as well as a health component to all Elementary students.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Physical Education, Health, Nutrition or a related field
Montessori Credentials preferred
Minimum five years teaching experience at early childhood or elementary level
Ideal candidates will have or be willing to acquire a Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Adhere to school guidelines and professional standards
Ensure safety and well-being of students in the classroom
Maintain a supportive and collaborative partnership with administration and faculty to assist with curriculum development and implementation within the context of the School's overall program and Mission
Participate in ongoing professional development
Attend all required faculty and team meetings
Participate in lunch, recess, and/or carline coverage, and parent education nights, as assigned
Collaborate and participate within a divisional team and interdisciplinary teachers
Maintain and participate in a home/school partnership by being open to consistent communication
Partner with Agility Lab to ensure student success and developmental readiness
Provide support for After School Care
Maintain student record keeping, lesson planning, parent reports, and parent conferences
Other duties as assigned by the Head of School
This position might have the ability to participate additional as a coach for various sports teams at MSR, depending upon skills and experience.
