Morgan Park Academy is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and innovative art teacher to join our Lower School faculty for the 2021-22 academic year. Strong applicants will have demonstrated the ability to implement a fine arts curriculum for students of all abilities while providing activities that promote personal expression and growth as well as an appreciation for global art history. Candidates should have knowledge of effective artistic techniques and practices including experience providing instruction in drawing, painting, mixed media collage, fiber arts, sculpture and ceramics. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to provide authentic differentiated artistic instruction and classroom management while working closely with children to build a positive sense of self and skills for each student. This position will report directly to the Lower School Principal.
Ideally, applicants should have experience as an art teacher working with elementary age children. Ability and interest in collaboration is a must. Additional qualifications include excellent communication and organizational skills, flexibility, intelligence, sense of humor, and a demonstrated love for working with young children and their families.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Art and/or elementary education from a four-year accredited institution and teaching experience. We are seeking candidates who are passionate about their desire to teach, lead by example and modeling, eager to embrace and advance the mission of the school, and able to contribute to a teaching partnership and to the direction of the school.
