The Torit Montessori School in Boston seeks an Upper Elementary Lead Teacher (Grades 4-6)beginning August 23, 2021. The ideal candidate will lead an Upper Elementary classroom and will oversee students 9-12 years of age. The Upper Elementary Lead Teacher will challenge each child to reach his/her fullest potential academically, emotionally, and physically in a prepared Montessori environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Adhere to AMS guidelines and professional standards
Prepare and maintain a Montessori environment in which materials are developmentally appropriate and provide academic purpose
Deliver established Montessori scope and sequence combined with Massachusetts State Standards
Ensure the safety and well-being of students in the classroom
Collaborate and participate with the LowerElementary team and with interdisciplinary teachers
Maintain a supportive and collaborative partnership with administration and colleagues to assist with curriculum development and implementation within the context of the School's overall program and Mission
Participate in ongoing Professional Development
Attend all required faculty and team meetings
Maintain a strong home/school partnership by ensuring consistent, respectful and open lines of communication with parents. Be available to parents through written communication, setting up conferences, and educating parents in Montessori philosophy.
Maintain student grades, lesson planning, parent reports, and parent conferences
Participate and help lead Parent Education events
Bachelor’s degree in Education. Masters Degree preferred.
Montessori Upper Elementary (9-12 ) Credentials (AMS or AMI)
Minimum 2-3 years teaching experience at the Upper Elementary level
Massachussetts State Certification (Alternative to Montessori Certification)
Additional Salary Information: Dependent on experience
