Shattuck-St. Mary’s School is searching for an Upper School History instructor to teach five sections of United States History and Government to 10th -12th grade students. Experience working with students on research-based writing assignments, cross curricular projects, and the Advanced Placement Government curriculum is preferred. In addition, we seek applicants with strong leadership skills who will work collaboratively with members of the History Department to encourage development and growth.
Shattuck St. Mary’s School is a boarding/day school and faculty members are expected to be involved with both co-curricular activities and standard residential life duties involved with a residential school setting.
Candidate should have a demonstrated interest in teaching in an environment where the focus is on developing character, leadership, and community alongside a strong academic program.
Candidate will be comfortable instructing in an innovative educational environment, familiar with technology in the classroom, and open to blended teaching in upper level courses.
Ideal candidates should have a demonstrated ability to teach and develop curriculum for United States History but also the interest and ability to teach other history courses at our school, should the need arise.
Candidates should have at least 2-4 years’ experience teaching; however, we will consider first year teaching candidates.
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field; Master’s Degree or relevant coursework preferred
Candidate will participate in residential life duty, including serving as an adjunct or live-in dorm parent as needed; serve as a student advisor; and lead co-curricular activities.
