The part-time Elementary School Art Teacher is a professional, energetic, innovative and generous artist with teaching experience at the elementary school level (grades K-5). This is a part-time position will teach six (6) art classes a week (times vary Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for course curriculum
Have a commitment to assisting in the assessment, growth and success of the Visual Arts Program.
Work cooperatively with the department, faculty and staff throughout the school in striving for educational excellence.
General involvement as a faculty member and in assessment of student learning.
Support and continuous quality improvement through participation.
Maintain a climate of trust and mutual respect, which encourages students to risk asking questions, expressing their opinions, and making mistakes necessary to the learning process.
Maintain dynamic and complete portfolios of students' progress and development throughout the school year
Participate in department, school, and parent meetings
Other duties as assigned
BA Degree in art required
2 years prior Elementary School teaching experience
Emphasis on drawing and multiple media as well as instruction of other techniques, tools and ideas.
Dynamic personality and enthusiasm for teaching
Understanding of and commitment to the school mission and goals
Understanding of and commitment to teaching and motivating students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
Excellent written and communication skills
