The Chestnut Hill School, founded in 1860 and located in Newton, Massachusetts, is a co-educational, independent school educating students from Beginners (age 3) through Grade 6. Associate teachers support lead teachers in the implementation of the Pre-K programs by contributing to a positive and consistent classroom environment for children and by their general participation in classroom routines. In addition, associates should have regular opportunities to carry some higher-level teaching responsibilities as outlined below, always in collaboration with and with the approval of lead teachers.
The Associate Teacher will:
Support the lead teacher to facilitate lessons in all subject areas
Guide students in their social-emotional development, maintaining expectations and support for positive and productive student behavior
Respectfully engage with families and demonstrate sensitivity to cultures, values, family configurations, and beliefs
Attend all Special Subject Classes
Attend regular planning, grade-level and teacher meetings, including parent-teacher conferences
Maintain open two-way communication with lead teacher
Assist with documenting student learning with photos and videos.
Experience working with children
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
