Temple University’s Office of Institutional Advancement serves as the fundraising and alumni relations center for the university. Departments within the Office include advancement services, annual giving, development, stewardship and donor relations, research, events, and alumni and constituent engagement. In addition to these departments, Institutional Advancement works in conjunction with the University’s various schools and units including the Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry. The Sr. Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations (Sr. ADOD) for the Kornberg School of Dentistry, reporting to the Assistant Dean for the school, is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all alumni and especially major donor prospects ($50,000+) to the school. With a particular focus on prospect identification and qualification, the Sr. ADOD must persuasively and motivationally communicates the mission and vision of Temple University and the Kornberg School of Dentistry. The incumbent will also work closely with school leadership and staff to customize a creative model for school-based alumni engagement that leverages central Alumni Relations resources to complement and enhance existing school-based outreach and initiatives.
The Sr. ADOD will secure funds for Dentistry by managing a portfolio of assigned prospects, representing the school and Temple University at large, and establishing connections between donors’ philanthropic interests and the priorities of the Kornberg School of Dentistry and Temple.
This person must be a highly energetic, organized, flexible, and enthusiastic professional with a track record of closing gifts. Must also be comfortable working autonomously, experienced at achieving performance-related metric goals, building donor relationships, working collaboratively and strategically with colleagues, and possessing a solid knowledge of the principles, ethics, and successful fundraising practices. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of fundraising/higher education alumni experience are required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience must include high-level interactions with senior administrators, university officials, volunteer boards, and alumni leaders (trustees, donors, alumni leaders). *Requires travel and some evening and weekend work
* Experience in a higher education setting a plus.
