The Derryfield School seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Latin teacher for grades 9-12.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background in Latin and Ancient cultures. The candidate must be able to teach Levels 1-3 of Latin and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, an innovative approach to teaching a world language in the 21st Century, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. Responsibilities of the position include a combination of classroom teaching, program development, student advising, and tutoring.
Specific roles include:
Teach three classes of Latin
Assist department in the Latin program redesign
Help advise 6-10 students (grade yet to be determined)
Supervise after school study hall
The ideal candidate will be an educator with:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Latin or applicable Latin study.
A commitment to the development of young people as individual learners
Experience working with children (i.e. camps, coaching, clubs)
Strength in collaboration with colleagues
An organized and creative mind able to complete tasks independently
