Description:Presentation High School in San Jose, California is seeking a full-time Assistant Athletic Director/Physical Education Teacher. The purpose of the Assistant Athletic Director/Physical Education Teacher is to assist the Athletic Director with coordination of all athletic activities of the school; to ensure that the department is run with integrity and in a manner consistent with the overall mission of the school; and to provide physical education, supporting students’ physical, mental, and emotional fitness.
Reports to: Athletic Director
Assistant Athletic Director/Physical Education Teacher Major Responsibilities:
Model for students, student-athletes, coaches, faculty/staff, parents, and members of the community the mission and values of Presentation High School.
Work with the Athletic Director to execute and assess the efficacy of Athletic Department vision and goals.
Serve as a site director/representative during assigned home games and post-season contests.
Coordinate with the Athletic office to manage parent work-shift/volunteer sign-ups and placement.
Assist the Athletic Director with seasonal Parent Meetings and administer make-up meetings.
Manage the coordination and operations associated with sports’ end of the year awards nights including calendaring and award video productions with film and media classes.
Serve as an Athletic Department liaison with the Athletics Booster Board and support their activities.
Coordinate and oversee gate and concessions management for home athletic contests.
Assist with the maintenance of all Athletic facilities in conjunction with maintenance personnel and the Pool Manager.
Oversee the distribution, collection, and inventory of uniforms and equipment.
Assist with the on-site athletic physicals program.
Assist with the coordination of summer camps.
Manage coaches’ gear inventory and athletic equipment inventory
Coordinate the use of work scholarship students for all athletic needs (scoreboard, concessions,
Administer the end-of-season coach evaluations to student-athletes.
Monitor the clearance of all parent volunteers (Shield the Vulnerable, Fingerprinting, Drivers
authorization form, Megan’s Law).
Coordinate each sport’s tryout schedule and communicate to student-athletes and families.
Work with the Public Relations Department to ensure that athletics is visible to current, alumnae and prospective students and families.
Assist with the production of content for marketing all aspects of the Presentation Athletic department (student-athletes, coaches, achievements, college signings, etc.) for the Athletics main page of the website, social media outlets for the Athletic Department (Twitter, Instagram, etc.), and external media outlets and opportunities.
To carry out ad-hoc projects and tasks, and other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Teach courses within the Physical Education Department:
Demonstrate subject matter competency and the ability to communicate that to high school students.
Devise a system of classroom order and discipline which contributes to the learning of all students.
Be available to students who need assistance.
Exercise professionalism at all times with students, parents, and colleagues.
Participate in professional development activities of the subject area, pedagogy, and technology
B.A. Degree and single-subject teaching credential in Physical Education, Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization (Athletic Administration, Sports Management, etc.), or Masters Degree in a related field required.
Experience working in Athletic leadership; experience in independent schools, especially Catholic schools strongly preferred.
Current first aid, CPR and AED certification
Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills
Experience with staff and budget management
Demonstrated professionalism in dealing with coaches, parents, student-athletes, and colleagues
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development for high school age student-athletes
Excellent organization, verbal and written skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills.
Ability to work non-traditional workdays (nights, Saturdays, holidays)
Relevant teaching experience, preferably 5 or more years at the high school level.
Willingness to adapt to an existing curriculum, as well as enhance the respective academic programs.
A deep commitment to professional growth and commitment to using educational technology in the curriculum.
Strong, proven teaching ability and passion for the academic subject.
Knowledge of the latest pedagogy for effective classroom instruction and student learning.
