Upper School Health and Physical Education Teacher

Moravian Academy is seeking an engaging, dynamic, and innovative replacement physical education teacher to join the department as a full time faculty member. This full time faculty member will be responsible for designing and implementing Upper School physical education, health, and nutrition courses. This teacher will lead an advisory group of students and make a significant contribution to student life as a fifth responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support and further enhance the department’s high expectations for academic and physical performance, intellectual inquiry, and personal growth for all students in each course;
Lead colleagues in designing and implementing flexible, student-centered lesson planning to accommodate the rotating 8-day schedule in the Upper School;
Facilitate hands on exploration, student collaboration and problem solving; integrate student-centered pedagogical practices into the curriculum;
Create meaningful partnerships with parents and families, including regular communications through school-supplied online tools, emails, and phone calls.

A Bachelor’s degree in physical education or a related field and/or experience; Master’s degree strongly preferred;
Minimum 3-5 years of teaching experience preferred;
Ability and desire to coach multiple seasons preferred;
Preference will be given to applicants with a previous experience in independent schools or similar college-preparatory programs;
Proficiency in digital educational technologies.

Confident and comfortable leading peers, particularly with designing creative, flexible lesson plans for a contemporary daily schedule;
