The Pinnacle School, a private, special education day school for college-bound students in grades 2 through 12, seeks a Health Teacher for a part-time, school-based position (10 months).
The Health Teacher will:
Support and motivate our students and help them to develop physical abilities and healthy habits, physical fitness, hygienic habits, and encourage positive social and emotional adjustment
Discover and develop talents of pupils in physical achievement
Accommodate various learning styles, personality styles, and the need for physical movement of individual students based on their unique needs so all students are appropriately engaged and challenged
Develop strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual, and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each pupil’s ability
Instruct students and lead age-appropriate discussions about physical health and development.
The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
Bachelor’s (minimum) in Health Education or related discipline.
State of Connecticut certification in Health required. Special education certification a bonus.
Experience working with special education youth is highly desirable.
